Resources

Starting any kind of blog can seem like a daunting task. There are so many tools and websites out there – it can be hard to know where to start. I thought I’d put together a resource list for bloggers (and food bloggers) whom are just starting out. Below, I’ll list what has worked well for me and the products I use on a regular basis. Of course, this list will continue to grow as I expand Kilroy’s Kitchen. As always, I’m only including tools and resources I use and highly recommend.

Blogging Tools

Bluehost – I used Bluehost to purchase my domain name and I currently use them to host my website. Bluehost offers excellent support to novice and experienced bloggers alike. For more information on starting a blog, you can check out my 1-2-3 step tutorial over here.

Canon EOS Rebel SL1I’ve become a big fan of my Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera. I purchased mine with the 18-55mm lens and I’ve found that the lens works beautifully for what I’m trying to accomplish. I use this for (almost) all of my food photos. This camera is a great size and is a good starter DLSR camera if you’re a beginner like me. Not only does it take great food photos, but I have used it while traveling and for family photos with great success.

With every camera purchase, it’s probably a good idea to have a good Memory Card. I use the SanDisk 16GB SD Memory Card because, let’s face it, after spending so much money on a camera, the last thing I wanted to do was spend even more money on a memory card. This memory card certainly serve its purpose and, just so I don’t run out of space, I delete the photos from the memory card after importing to my computer.
